Keep your fountain full of water and clean of debris and dirt to keep it looking attractive and to ensure proper functioning of the pump.
Fountain Troubleshooting
Is there enough water in the fountain? Many fountains require a full water level to operate.
Is the plastic tubing kinked, blocking the water flow?
Is electricity available, did the circuit breaker go off?
Is there any debris, leaves, mineral buildup, etc. blocking the intake to the pump?
Is the pump “air locked”? When you take pump out of water while it’s still running, it creates air bubble around intake of the pump, so it causes air pocket to stop water flow. Plug and unplug the pump several times to clear.
Is the impeller in the pump turning? See the manufacturers directions supplied with your pump.
Fountain care
Do keep fountain bowls filled to proper level to maintain its proper pump operation. Refer to the pump instructions for the proper level (2” min). It is not recommended that fountains are left running during the night or when not at home as the water level cannot be monitored. Fountains can be operated over night, but we suggest that customer monitors water levels frequently. Running fountains dry may damage the pump and void the warranty.
Clean with a soft cloth and CHANGE WATER FREQUENTLY, if possible.
Depending on the temperature and evaporation you may see a buildup of white residue on fountain surface from mineral content in the water supply.
Do not use any abrasives that can damage the surface of fountain. To prevent such buildup, we suggest soap and water. Mineral deposits may be able to be removed by some bathroom cleaning products such as “Lime Away”, “CLR”, etc. But, we don’t know the effect on polyresin.
Clean the fountain periodically as needed. Change the water; rinse the pump, especially in hot weather to prevent algae’s growth. You should evaluate Algaecide since our fountain pumps are only warranted for use in water with no additives.
If we suggest adding an algaecide, we need to approve it for use with our pumps and fountains. Pumps are designed for clean, fresh water only, and additives may react with pump parts or fountain surfaces. Algae can clog up the pump – may shorten the life of the pump. A clogged pump will affect the water flow and performance of the pump. Never use chlorine as an algaecide or cleaner. Chlorine can damage your pump and fountain surfaces.
• NEVER LET THE FOUNTAIN RUN DRY!!! May not burn out the pump, but running the pump dry may damage the pump and void the warranty.
• DO READ ALL INFORMATION supplied with your pump regarding its proper care and cleaning.
• Do plug pump into a properly grounded junction box with a GFI receptacle only.
• DO PROTECT FROM FREEZING. In cold weather climates, to extend the life of your fountain, we suggest that you remove water and disconnect the pump to protect it from possible freezing damage due to ice. There are no manufacturers’ warranties against that occurrence.
* A fountain instruction sheet, fittings as well as tubing are included for each fountain type. Contact your dealer if you did not receive all necessary pieces.
* Some fountains can have some amount of over splash regardless of style or design. Placement location of any fountain is the sole responsibility and liability of the purchaser.
CAUTION: Excessive weight or pressure on any of the fountain bowls or other sections may cause it to fall.
*** PLEASE KEEP PETS, CHILDREN OR ANYONE FROM SITTING, LEANING OR CLIMBING ON ANY OF THE FOUNTAIN COMPONENTS ***
Some fountain parts have interlocking parts; however, some fountains have no interlocking parts, they are held together by gravity only. Gluing or cementing parts together is not recommended. You may want to dismantle the parts to service your fountain or move it.
Minor Repair
If there are any repairs that need to be made, you can use an auto body type filler to repair damaged fountains and suggest they use a cement epoxy glue to affix the pieces together. They can refer to the instructions for use. This also will void the warranty.
